Mike Cottmeyer was recently a guest on the Agile to Agility podcast with Miljan Bajic where he discussed Transformation, BusinessArchitecture, and Scaling. And you know, the manifesto had just been written and I was working as a projectmanager in a company called CheckFree here in Atlanta and squarely like in the PMO.

Things really take off with the advent of the CSM certification and PMI finally recognizing Agile as a legitimate way to do software projectmanagement. So if you think about a LeadingAgile engagement, like one of the things that we start off with is an engagement called Define The End State and really what we’re thinking about during that stage is we’re looking at the businessarchitecture of the organization. “You have to be able to get the testers integrated.
And so if you’ve grown up in a traditional mindset, you’ve grown up in a traditional projectmanagement model. However, education is key to understanding what makes Agile different from traditional projectmanagement, which often does not address organizational design. How do we educate them?
And businessarchitecture kind of a nebulous term, but how do you form teams? So what I have to think about is what are the organization’s mechanisms for adapting, not just requirements, but adapting the businessarchitecture? It’s I need to align around the businessarchitecture.
