– And I was a projectmanager. – And you were a projectmanager in a different part of the organization. I’m sitting there as this relatively young projectmanager, teaching all these folks at the bank about Agile, right, and risk management and things. – [Mike] Yeah, yeah.
– Talk about projectmanagement and things like that. – Well, there were a couple of big things I was doing the fundamental foundational thing I’ve been doing for a long time was kind of big project recoveries. . – And you do that like at a project level. – That’s right. – Hmm.
– Well, when you’re trying to build software and the software we were building was, was very innovative and kind of leading edge for organizations. And we’re looking for alignment between what I might say, like the businessarchitecture or the technology architecture and the organizational architecture.
Innovation, are we able to get feedback from customers and invent products that they want to use, product fit? Are we generating the right kinds of feedback to make sure we’re building the right products, whether that be innovative or more in a structured way? How do we continuously reevaluate the businessarchitecture?
I came out of projectmanagement, like I said, PMI ACP, all that kind of stuff. Well then, the projectmanagers come in and they start controlling us and telling us what to do and making us attend to their Gantt charts and their estimates and all that kind of stuff. That’s a very red view of Scrum.
And businessarchitecture kind of a nebulous term, but how do you form teams? I talk about things like predictability quality, early return on investment, cost savings, innovation, product fit. So it’s a little bit where the projects, the product story kind of comes in. How do you form teams across the enterprise?

The idea again, was that if we could do those things, we could build the right products, we could get faster feedback cycles, we could get better attention to quality, we could get early delivery, we could get predictability, we could get efficiency, we could get lower costs, we could get innovation. I mean, you can put an interface there.
